Each of the 6 rooms at Mayfield House Bed and Breakfast at Lake Tahoe has its own unique design style and special touches, but all come with a heapin’ helpin’ of our hospitality.

Mountain Hideaway

GO WEST young guest! This spacious suite is probably the best room in Tahoe. Stocked with books and embellishments to enhance the western motif, it has everything you need-king size log bed with down bedding, roomy sitting area with television and vcr, private bath with a whirlpool tub/shower and 2 pedestal sinks. The windows peek out on the beautiful lake and mountains.

Americana Angler Suite

READY TO FISH? Traditional Americana décor with a nod toward the fishing enthusiast. Wood plank walls set off the king size log bed and unique arched windows. Comfortable chairs, lots of great books, a private bath with tub/shower and separate sitting area with a television and vcr work together to make this room special.

The Julia Morgan Room

AS A FREQUENT GUEST of Mr. Mayfield’s, Julia Morgan (Mayfield’s associate and designer of the Hearst San Simeon castle), always felt at home in this comfortable room. With a king size bed, beautiful linens, oak dressers and antique side tables, a rocker and a cozy reading chair, you, too, may just find yourself a new home away from home.

The Cottage ((aka Love Shack))

WERE THE B-52’s singing about this incredible space? Your romantic retreat awaits. A cozy cottage set among our gardens offers itself as your private haven. With mountain décor, avery comfortable queen size bed, skylights in the wood ceiling, a beautiful slate gas log fireplace, cedar and slate bathroom-you may be tempted to lock the door and throw away the key.

Victorian Garden

VICTORIAN YET very relaxing - this room looks out on the patio and back yard. It has a very comfortable queen size wood and iron bed, an antique armoire with writing desk, television and vcr. A private bath inside of room has a tub/shower. Enjoy the garden view, or if it’s winter, enjoy the big piles of white snow. Read a book or write one. It may just inspire you.

Alpine Alcove

A VERY POPULAR ROOM at a very popular price - this cozy room with mountain decor and bear accents (all stuffed or carved) is a hit! Open the window to look out over the trees in the front yard to the top of Alpine Meadows ski mountain. It has a queen size log bed, hand painted tables, and armoire. The private bathroom is located outside the room and down the steps. Gorgeous, with stone and wood, it offers the inn’s only steam shower.

Built in 1932 by Norman Mayfield, one of Tahoe's premier builders of the early twentieth century, the Mayfield House is the finest example of "Old Tahoe" architecture. The stone and shingle exterior is surrounded by a yard enclosed by a stone fence and filled with pine and aspen trees, stone walkways, and beautiful gardens. The interior consists of wood planked walls and beams, a large stone fireplace, newly restored Douglas fir wood floors, and natural wood doors.

All rooms are for a maximum of 2 people. Additional guests are an additional charge and must be approved by the innkeeper upon reservation.
  
 
At the time of reservation, a 50% advance payment is taken, with the balance due 2 weeks prior to your stay. A refund (less a $35. administration fee) is offered if cancellation is less than 2 weeks and we are able to re-rent your room.
 
 
For holiday periods and special events, at the time of reservation, a 50% advance payment is taken, with the balance due 4 weeks prior to your stay. A refund (less a $50. administration fee) is offered if cancellation is less than 4 weeks and we are able to re-rent your room.
  
 
Confirmations are sent once advance payment is made.

We love pets, but to respect all of our guests, we are unable to allow them at the inn. Sorry, Fido. Please ask us about local pet sitting services.
